Illusion: Find Murder

This is an 2D indie game classified as puzzle game called Illusion: Find Murder

You will play a corporate slave named Round with social fear in the game. Round was pushed down the track unconsciously with the galloping train came oncoming. But Round’s consciousness quickly returned to the cage. He returned to the previous train track with an old group photo in his hand. The murderer is between these people, and the train is about to arrive. He must find the murder and save his own life this time.

Operation

WSAD or ↑↓←→: change the direction and move

Purpose of the game

1 immerse player in the game through complex puzzles
2 render the parallel world to enhance the sense of involvement
3 have a variety of gameplay (tablet jumping, first-person puzzle solving), giving players a complete game experience


Game Experience Process


Puzzle Design

The puzzle-solving part is limited to the view of a single telescope, so the design of the puzzle is constraint in a certain extent. When designing the puzzle, we try to focus the puzzle-solving elements into tiny props, such as newspapers, locks, and apples. Etc. These items require players to explore actively to discover them.


Different Mode of GAMEPLAY

2D Puzzle Game

The player will hold a newspaper tube as a telescope, and can see what happened in the past scene through the telescope. The player triggers the influence by picking up and placing props to promote the game process.
We take the corner street as the main game scene. Players will find key props in the street to unlock and enter a new point in time for exploration.

Horizontal Chase Game

After finding the murderer, the player will chase after the murderer in various scenes in the game and avoid obstacles. The killer’s signal will change in strength with the distance. In the end, the player will follow the murderer to the edge of the track and use the same way killed to kill the murderer.


WOW Factor

We try to improve the player’s experience from multiple perspectives

Focal Length

Combining the concept of time with focal length. Player can use a handheld newspaper tube as a telescope and adjust the focal length of the telescope to understand stories that happen at different times.
For example: a whole apple and a rotten apple suggest different times

Stylized art

The overall use of gray and black tones is to render a mysterious and dim atmosphere, which is in sharp contrast with the normal scene tones, indicating that the protagonist is in an illusion and increasing the player's immersion in the puzzle game.
In order to render the plot through game art, we emphasized the concept of "alienation". Players may encounter a lot of alienated characters so as to render the feeling of unrealism.

Animation

Animations may be triggered at the beginning, in the end or the middle of the game to help players understand the plot. Animations are used to assist the narrative and promote the plot, which can better help players understand
